Art Practice – Introduction

My work is based on observation, narrative and imagination and has varied from large-scale murals to private portrait commissions. The humanist element in my work is grounded in traditional values and experiences, such as engaging with people, both past and present and their stories to foster a sense of community. As Feldman (1996, pp.2-6) states,

“art education is an enterprise that encompasses teaching and learning to make and understand art, as well as finding out about the world and ourselves through art. Art is a bridge between individuals and the community in which they have their being.”
