Based in Ratoath County Meath, Ireland.  Clarke Art provides a range of exciting drawing and painting classes, workshops and events from the studio-classroom located in suite one, first floor, the village centre, Ratoath, Co. Meath.

Clarke Art provides local drawing and painting classes with a learner-centered approach for students of all ages. New themes, supporting artists and learning objectives are created for each class. From complete beginners to more advanced students, Clarke Art offers classes to enhance drawing skills and art techniques in order to access imagination, develop creativity and to express ideas.

About Angela

Angela Clarke is a local artist, illustrator and a qualified educator with a certificate in fine art, a first class honours BA in Visual communications, specialising in drawing and illustration from DIT. Angela also recently received a first class honours professional masters in Art and Design Education from The National College of Art and Design (NCAD). Angela has over twenty years experience working in art, design and advertising. Her work has won creative industry awards and has been exhibited in the RHA. Last year Angela completed a mural in the library of Ratoath Senior National School.

Overview: Collaborative activities based on the Visual Arts Curriculum include; Marbling inks, Salt Art, Collage, Paper Weaving, Mod Roc, Clay, Foil Art, Printing, Dry Felting, and Masks

Saturday open drawing classes

Overview: Saturday art classes offer the opportunity to develop artistic skills and technical ability at a relaxed pace for both primary and post-primary students. Classes include instruction and practice on the fundamentals of drawing.

Choice of Times: Saturdays 10am -12pm, 12pm-2pm, 2pm-4pm

Cost: €20 per 2-hour tuition

Leaving certificate Art, craft and Design, Junior Cycle Visual Art Classes

Overview: These classes are aim to explore concept development, the elements of art, the principles of design and a range of 2-D and 3-D processes. All activities included are based on the Irish curriculum and over the course will include composition, perspective and tonal drawing, masking fluid and stencilling techniques, still life and figurative drawing tuition and graphic design.

Secondary School Art – Mondays 5.30pm-7.30pm, Fridays 2pm-4pm
Secondary School Art (1st, 2nd, 3rd year) – Wednesdays 5.30pm-7.30pm

Portfolio Preparation for TY, 5th and 6th Year Students

Overview: Clarke Art Portfolio Preparation class is designed for students from TY, 5th and 6th year who intend to apply for a place in a 3rd level art college for which a portfolio is mandatory. These classes will help students reach their full potential in the new leaving cert Art exam as well as developing a personally relevant and individual creative portfolio. This class is project-based and will include guidance on developing techniques with new media, observation drawing of still-life and life-drawing. It can be taken on it’s own or in conjunction with other secondary school art classes and Art History class.

Portfolio preparation for TY, 5th and 6th year – Monday

Cost: €20 per 2-hour tuition

Art History and Appreciation Classes

Overview: Based on the leaving certificate art history exam these classes incorporate practical activities and group tasks for enriched learning. For more detail and an overview of the subject matter covered in each term, please click here.

Adult Drawing and Painting Classes

Overview: Weekly Adult Art classes are offered to all abilities seeking to develop their creativity in a relaxing and inspiring environment. Classes are instructed with a learner-centred approach; this means that anybody – from complete beginners to more advanced students – can attend classes, and students will make progress from the level of experience and capability that they have at the beginning of each session.

Classes are kept to small group sizes to ensure individual support and feedback can be given. This course involves the study of composition, perspective, and the development of light and shadow through the exploration of drawing and painting skills such as: tonal graphite pencils, charcoals, inks, oil pastels, chalks, acrylics, and watercolours.

In these classes, you will learn to initially observe a range of still life sets and build a realistic representation through mark-making. Classes will include the study and exploration of still life, portraiture, whole figure and landscape.

Tuesday and Thursday evenings 7.30pm-9.30pm

Cost: €20 per 2-hour tuition

Art, craft and design Parties

Sundays: 2pm-4pm+

Overview: Bespoke Art parties can be arranged in a venue of your choice, in your home, or in my art and design studio. (Maximum capacity for parties held in my studio is 20 people)

Popular themes include:  Masks, Canvas tote bags, Decoupage boxes, Jewellery making. Comic book illustration, Themes can be requested.

Bookings must be made 3 weeks in advance of party. Group bookings only (minimum of 10 people)

Cost: €20 per person for a 2 hour party.

Holidays Art camps and workshops

Overview: Holiday Art Camps and workshops offer fun art and craft activities for students during Half term, Easter holidays and summer holidays. A range of activities including, painting, illustration, clay, printing, book binding, jewellery making, puppet making and much more.

School and real world enrichment projects

Overview: Whether it is a themed enrichment day, cross-curricular topic or an artist focus, Angela can facilitate bespoke art projects for smaller groups, or whole school activities. Angela organises art projects with various objectives, whether they be team building, to create group morale, to increase creativity and creative output, the exploration of specific topics related to the school and further issues within developmental education.

Angela has experience teaching within primary schools, secondary and special needs education. Angela is able to differentiate lessons to meet the needs of children of all abilities through structured and progressive lesson plans

Popular themes include: The whole school collaborative drawing project, mosaic wall mural painting, school displays, clay sculptures, and puppet making. Book full day or ​half day
